Update: BBM has twitted that they have blocked the below APK and so the below steps are not going to work. The currently working leaked APK’s are going to be blocked soon according to BBM. But you can get Apple iMessage on your Android while you wait for BBM.
Blackberry messenger for Android is still not available for download, but the leaked apk is now working. Here is a quick howto to get BBM working on your Android phone (ICS and up)
If you are not able to install using the APK, you might have to allow unknown sources in settings.

The application will soon be available on Playstore at which time I will update this post with the link to play store. This post is meant for those who want to get BBM on their Android phone before anyone else.
